Camping with 3 Kids

My first time camping ever with the family.  It was one of the best experiences as a family. You can watch our trip and how my two kids endure the almost 10 mile hike and scroll down for my top 10 must bring list for camping with 3 kids.

We headed to Kings Canyon in the break of dawn, woke up at 5:30am and started driving after our cup of coffee.  We had a first crew (my sister and bf) who started driving an hour before us.  Kings Canyon camp grounds are a first come first basis and being the pro camper they were so amazingly nice to  get us started by getting the campsite and even setting all our tents!!!

“Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better. There is pleasure in the pathless woods, there is rapture in the lonely shore, there is society where none intrudes, by the deep sea, and music in its roar; I love not Man the less, but Nature more.”

From my first camping experience, I learned few things and here is my tip for you newbies.

  1. We took 2 airbeds, but will get another one for the kids.
  2. Bring comfortable blankets.  Lots of them! Helps to gets cozy in the woods. Oh, don’t forget your pillows.
  3. Tent for eating area. Having flies and bugs over your food was probably one of my stress.  But having something like this will solve the problem.  Link here.
  4. Lanterns. It gets pitch dark so having some sort of light definitely helps.
  5. Load lots of movies or documentary about bats or animals in the woods.
  6. Before going camping check for guided tour about the Canyon and figure out times.
  7. There is absolutely no electricity, having these solar charges was amazing. Here
  8. DSLR camera battery charger found a solar one too! Here
  9. What to pack: Aside from the couple of change of clothes, beanie, warm jacket and having a pair of slippers, running shoes, and uggs. (if they already have one but not necessary to buy one) I didn’t take one but wished I did. Ugg shoes would of been nice for the early mornings and nights.
  10. Sunblock, bug spray, and travel size toiletries.

Can’t wait to go on more camping trips, definitely don’t mind getting down and dirty in the nature.
