There are just so many great selection of books and it is overwhelming to go through the list and trying to figure out which literature books to read and hoping that book will keep her interested through the 300+ pages. Eleni is not your Harry Potter gal. Yeap, she’s probably one of the very few never got into the series. She’s more of an “Little Women” or Mary Poppins gal.
Some of the books below we read it together as family with her brother and some we studied it chapter by chapter. The criteria I used to pick the book choices below were by: Does the book have literary value? Does the book encourage to love good writing? Does the book exemplify courage, warmth, love, and humor? Does the book nourish the mind and excites the imagination? Does the book cross age to be enjoyed by them all?
The book level is recommended for a fluent reader 3rd-5th grade, but one the things that make a great book is the timeless quality and the ability that can be thoroughly enjoyed from my 5 years old to myself. I have bolded the list that was read with my son who is now 6 years old.
